Which dasha brings marriage, according to the shastras?
Classical timing starts with planets tied to the seventh house, the partnership area. Phaladeepika 10.13 names three: a planet in the seventh, one aspecting it, and its ruler. Venus is another marriage factor. Jataka Parijata 14.26 adds one more planet. Find the second-house ruler, then the ruler of the sign it sits in. That planet's period can bring marriage.
The same verse names the periods of the tenth and eighth rulers. It also names a seventh-house planet sitting with the seventh ruler. Jyotish Ratnakar pp. 271–273 collects more timing rules. List your actual chart links before looking at dates.
There is no one planet whose period brings marriage for everyone. Mars ruling the seventh gives a different shortlist from Mercury ruling it. Venus periods are candidates, not automatic marriage dates. Mahadasha supplies the background and antardasha narrows it. Read both lords rather than searching only for a favourable planet name.

What role does Jupiter's transit play?
A transit is a planet's present movement through the sky. Phaladeepika 10.14 joins a period to Jupiter's transit. Take the ruler of the sign holding the seventh ruler, or of its navamsa sign. Pick whichever is stronger. Also take the stronger of Venus and the Moon. Marriage comes in the period of such a planet. It comes when Jupiter crosses a trine of the seventh ruler's sign or navamsa sign. A trine means the first, fifth or ninth sign from there.
If the seventh lord sits in Gemini, its trine signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Count Gemini as one. Libra is fifth and Aquarius ninth. This is not the same as checking Jupiter against the seventh house itself. The reference in the rule is the seventh lord's position. Confusing house and lord shifts the transit shortlist.
A transit crossing alone is not the final wedding window. First establish a relevant period. Then check the Jupiter passage within it. The dasha calculator displays periods, not this complete transit comparison. A full reading does the extra step. Do not claim that every Jupiter entry into a trine forces a marriage.

What delays marriage in a chart?
Jyotish Ratnakar p. 274 links delay with harmful influences. It checks the rising sign, second house, seventh house and Venus. Harmful influence on them delays marriage. Helpful influence brings it earlier. A strong seventh ruler in a central house or trine brings early marriage. These are chart conditions, not a judgement about the person waiting.
Phaladeepika 10.15 covers harm to the spouse, not delay. It needs two things together. First, the seventh ruler is weak. It is in an enemy or fallen sign, burnt by the Sun, or harmfully aspected. Second, harmful planets sit in or aspect the seventh house. One of these alone does not meet the rule.
Delay and denial are different statements. Do not turn a late-timing condition into a claim that marriage never happens. This page explains how classical rules create a shortlist. It does not assign a permanent label to a reader without a chart. Work from the actual placements and the dates instead of an age-based fear.

How do you check your own dasha for marriage periods?
Run the calculator above with your recorded birth details. Write down the current main planet and its end date. The result also gives the current antardasha and pratyantar. Use the main-period timeline to see the next large period. These dates are the base for a timing shortlist, not a final marriage verdict.
Next identify the seventh lord, Venus, relevant seventh-house planets and the second lord's sign lord. Mark the smaller periods ruled by those planets. The visible calculator shows the current smaller period. It has no complete next-ten-year antardasha browser. The duration tables explain how the full sequence is divided. A full reading can examine all upcoming windows.
Finally compare the marked periods with Jupiter's relevant transits. Keep only overlaps satisfying the stated rule. Record which chart link supports each candidate. That makes the shortlist auditable. A claimed window needs a relevant planet link, calculated dates and the transit check. Without these, it has not completed this method.
Does the upapada lagna show marriage timing?
Upapada is the reflected sign of the twelfth house. BPHS ch. 30 reads it for marriage conditions. It is useful alongside the seventh house, but it is not an independent exact-date clock. Calculate the sign using inclusive counting and its exception. Then read its planetary influences.
The second sign from upapada is another marriage-condition check. That tells a different story from a period end date. Do not paste the UL sign into a table and announce a wedding year. The upapada page shows the counting and which ruler our calculator uses. Timing still requires the linked planets and the period shortlist.

Understand the upapada calculationCan a free tool give the exact year?
The free calculator gives period dates. It does not give a guaranteed wedding year. A full timing reading ranks windows after checking the relevant chart links and transit overlaps. The reading gives time windows, not exact dates. A period's exact start day is not a promised event day.
Use the free result to prepare a good question. Bring the recorded birth time, the period list and the seventh-lord placement. Ask which windows satisfy the rule and which competing factors weaken them. That is a concrete next step. Buying a reading should add the full comparison, not merely repeat the calculator's planet names.
Example chart — illustrative, not a real person
Which periods would you shortlist for a Libra-rising example?
To try the example, enter Delhi, 18 January 2000, 00:25 (Indian time). This is not a client's chart. The calculator shows Libra rising. The seventh is Aries, ruled by Mars in Aquarius. Jupiter and Saturn occupy the seventh. Shortlist Mars, Venus and the seventh-house occupants' periods for further checks. Keep the complete textual conditions separate.
From Aquarius Mars, Jupiter's trine signs are Aquarius, Gemini and Libra. Rahu–Mars runs from 16 October 2029 to 3 November 2030. Checked day by day, the trine overlap runs 16 October 2029–24 January 2030. Another falls on 1 May–22 September 2030. The gap reflects Jupiter's backward movement. These dates are right to the day, not to the hour.
Jupiter–Saturn runs from 21 December 2032 to 5 July 2035. The same daily check finds an overlap from 18 March 2033 to 27 March 2034. Saturn occupies the seventh in this example. That overlap alone is not a marriage verdict. The complete Jataka Parijata conjunction rule and other chart conditions still need checking. This example demonstrates a shortlist, not a wedding prediction.
Keep three date lists. The first contains main periods. The second contains the relevant smaller lords. The third contains Jupiter's matching days. Only shared time between the second and third lists advances to the next check. Do not add a Venus window merely because the planet is a marriage factor. If none falls in this selected ten-year interval, do not invent one. Record only the available calculated windows.
Accurate birth time matters. A timing window is not a guaranteed wedding date.
Frequently asked
Does Venus dasha guarantee marriage?
No. Venus is one candidate. Seventh-house links and Jupiter's relevant transit must also be checked.
Which house is central to marriage timing?
The seventh is the main partnership area. Its lord and linked occupants help form the timing shortlist.
Is Jupiter's transit enough?
No. Phaladeepika combines the relevant period with Jupiter's trine transit.
Does delay mean no marriage?
No. Delay and denial are different claims. Check the full chart and helpful influences.
Does upapada give an exact date?
Not alone. It is a marriage-condition factor, not a separate exact-date clock.
What does the free tool show?
It shows current main and smaller periods, their end dates and the main timeline. It does not perform the complete marriage assessment.
