नवरात्रि

The autumn nine-night observance of the Divine Mother (Sharada Navaratri), spanning Ashwina Shukla Pratipad through Mahanavami. Durga, Lakshmi, and Sarasvati are worshipped in successive triads of three days; the Devi Mahatmya (Markandeya Purana, chapters 81–93) is recited daily. Across India the festival takes regional form as the Durga Puja of Bengal, the Garba-Dandiya of Gujarat, and the Bommai Kolu of Tamil Nadu. The tenth day is Vijayadashami.
