Panchang — the five angas पञ्चाङ्ग

Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Vara with their end-times, plus the month and the Moon’s and Sun’s signs — computed for this city’s sunrise. Times after midnight use the traditional extended clock (e.g. 27:23 = 03:23 next morning).

Tithi: Pratipadaप्रतिपदाtill 14:13then Dwitiyaद्वितीयाtill 34:57
What this means
The lunar day. It is set by how far the Moon has pulled ahead of the Sun — each 12 degrees of separation is one tithi. The tithi shapes which activities the tradition favours, and it ends at the time shown, when the next one begins.

How we compute this panchang

Every time on this page is calculated from the actual positions of the Sun and Moon using the Swiss Ephemeris (the same high-precision astronomical engine used by professional astronomers), not from a printed almanac or a fixed table.

Sidereal zodiac, Lahiri ayanamsha — the standard used by the Indian government calendar (ayanamsha for this date: 24.2351°). All nakshatra, rashi, tithi and yoga boundaries follow from it.
Local true sunrise — muhurta windows (Rahu Kaal, Choghadiya, Hora, Abhijit and the rest) are measured from the true sunrise computed for Varanasi's exact coordinates, so they are correct for your location, not a regional approximation.
Two month conventions — we show both the Amanta (new-moon-to-new-moon) and Purnimanta (full-moon-to-full-moon) lunar month, because different regions of India follow different ones; an Adhika (intercalary) month is marked when it occurs.

Significance and auspicious/inauspicious flags are drawn from classical texts (Muhurta Chintamani, Brihat Samhita, the Puranas and others) and cited inline — we never assert an effect a text does not state.

On Saturday, the 23rd of January 2027, the Vedic calendar in Varanasi carries a day of particular rhythmic quality. Sunrise arrives at 6:45 AM and dipping below the horizon at 5:34 PM, bringing 10 hours 49 minutes of daylight. The tithi is Pratipada of the Krishna fortnight, and the nakshatra of the day is Pushya.
