गणेश चतुर्थी
The birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, observed on the Shukla Chaturthi of Bhadrapada Masa. The ten-day Ganeshotsav culminates in Anant Chaturdashi, when consecrated clay murtis are immersed in water bodies. Foundational references appear in the Ganesha Purana and Mudgala Purana; the public festival was revived by Lokmanya Tilak in 1893.
