Each planet forms a combination: Mars (Ruchaka), Mercury (Bhadra), Jupiter (Hamsa), Venus (Malavya), Saturn (Sasa). The planet must sit in chart house 1, 4, 7 or 10. It must occupy its own sign or a sign giving it special strength.
Phaladeepika and Saravali link the Mars combination to courage and authority. Brihat Jataka and Parashara Smriti link the Jupiter combination to wisdom and virtue. The texts also give rules that cancel these combinations. The calculator lists those separately when found.
The result shows the planets, source support scores and cited verses. A chart can have one, several or none of these five combinations.
