Annual profections move your year's focus forward by one life area on each birthday. Vettius Valens recorded this method in the 2nd century. This tool names your year's area, sign and ruling planet.

Age 0 starts in area 1; age 1 moves to area 2. Each birthday moves one area forward. Age 12 returns to area 1, and the cycle repeats.

The year's ruling planet (time lord) rules the sign in the main life area. Astrologers check its sign, position and strength to read the year.

The rising sign sets each area's sign and ruling planet. It changes roughly every two hours. A wrong time can change those signs and planets, though the age-to-area count stays unchanged.
